It's not a zombie shooter, you do that a tad in the beginning and then it's a side activity which ends quickly. This is more of an idle city building war game. Pay to play (obviously) but you can still enjoy it without spending money. This does add on time required to do stuff but still doable. You do hit the point where things start taking days to upgrade so it hits a dragging spot but they are generous with speed ups, bonus events for extra supplies and equipment.

The game is fun and does add a little extra to increase base space, which gives a bit more to do outside of building and attacking. Like others in the genre it relies heavily on spending to be competitive. Sadly the pricing is extreme and the first 24 hours saw offers totalling over £1000 all of which combined would still not give you overall control. It is fun though, but pricing needs to be heavily adjusted and number of offers toned down.

Game play is ok, but unless you want to either spend a lot of real money on upgrades, or play multiplayer through alliances, it rapidly gets to a point where any progress is painfully slow. Only very limited parts of the game are actually like the advertisements. They become hidden by the world building aspects.
